Echale San Antonio

San Antonio starts to expand with its arts and culture.
Being only an 'honorary' San Antonian (will be 12 years) I have to say I've witnessed the boom probably a good 4 years ago.
Looks like the city took a big initiative to finally accomodate the NEED for CULTURAL expansion and implemented the expansion of our Museum Reach along with many other annual and seasonal events like Luminaria, The European Film Festival and more.

One of my absolutely favorite events is ECHALE: Latino Music Estyles.
The Stage: The Peal Amphitheater with the alternate Pearl Stadium as a rainy day alternative.
The dates: so far, spontaneous but mostly Spring and Fall months as the Summer tends to be harsh.
The History: Not sure who or how this event got started, but have a good ideas of the people behind the organization of it (some of these peeps might or might not have been my class mates ;) )
Poster by Cruz Ortiz:

I just know that i'm truly grateful for such a magnificent infusion of great music: most of it imported from all over Latin America and the U.S.: Local Bands like Grupo Fantasma, Girl in a Coma and PiƱata Protest share the stage with equally talented and internationally known bands like The Nortec Collective, Sol Pereyra, Chico Trujillo and Ana Tijoux (or Chilean flavors for May, 2012) and many more.

The Ambiance: Amazing! Easy-going people. Families, couples, friends, uncles.
All are welcome and all are dancing-stylish machines with a little bit of CUMBIA in their souls.
I, personally always try to make it and have a delicious Lonestar or Shiner Beer on my side to pair up with the Texas mood and the River Walk background.
Not sure when the next Echale will be, but I'll be there documenting with my little phone the next awesome bands coming over this year. And making sure I back up my photos and video well this time (lost all my last ones :(  ).
